NARIO BARBOSA

Working as a photojournalist for over 20 years, the artist appropriates everyday images during the exercise of his duties and produces a work of intervention in photography in different ways, from negative to photographic paper and with different techniques. Nario's research carries a heritage from the past that is carefully explored in his work. The intervention with embroidery in the photographs, provide his work with a very peculiar reinterpretation that is directly associated with issues that the artist himself carries. Through colors and delicate work, sometimes melancholy scenes gain new meanings through the photographer's sensitive eye.









 

Acting as a photojournalist, Nario Barbosa appropriates everyday images during the exercise of his functions and produces a work of intervention in photography in different ways, from negative to photographic paper and with different techniques.

The intervention in the photographs provides his work with a very peculiar reinterpretation that is directly associated with issues that the artist himself carries. Through the colors and a delicate work, sometimes melancholy scenes, gain new meanings by the sensitive eye of the photographer.

In São Paulo, he participated in the exhibitions "Vida de Circo" at SESC São Caetano, "A Louca underneath the white" at MIS, at the 40th Salão de Arte Contemporânea Luis Sacilotto, in Santo André, and also held a solo exhibition at OMA Galeria in São Paulo. Bernardo do Campo, SP. He won the Diogenes Taborda Prize at the "Salón Mercosur Internacional", in Argentina and participated in the "Faces of Brazil" exhibition at the Ludwig Museum in Koblenz, Germany.
